I've been working on an idea for a few years. I've yet to speak it out loud to anyone, and I refused to give any details to the other guys, which led them to start competing against me.

What's holding me back is the investment. I'm honestly tired of investing my own money, time, and energy into this market, only to deal with the type of chicanery that I've been calling out. And that's business, especially when you're number one. I just don't have the same incentive I once had to be the best in this industry.

Who am I spending the money for? The group of commenters who are under assignment to prop up my "competition"? Do I create the best local resource for a media that works hard to shadow ban me due to my refusal to take a lesser role beneath them? Why build up visibility for a game that would never give me the time of day, less I opt to be a sycophant follower and not a leader?

That's where I'm at right now. I don't even care about the game of baseball, outside of work habits. I know baseball better than most people in the game, but I also know this game needs to move closer to my level than my need to lower myself to the depths of their sinking ship.

So, for now I'm selling truth, and forcing the Pittsburgh media to match this bar I'm setting. Their choice is to reach for that higher bar, or watch me take over this market again.

I have some personal experience with what you're talking about here. When you plow yourself into something and everyone benefits from your effort EXCEPT YOU.... Been there.

This hybrid of the business world and the writing world is an uncaring shark. It needs to eat and it doesn't care what it's eating. It could make a fellow feel unwanted.

("Why do you want to divorce me, Hildy? It makes a man feel unwanted!")- go on and name the reference...

Still, we come back to the written page not as a call to work or profit but because it is who we are. The good writing is HERE.

...ok....

.... as you were ....

Have not got to the park yet on account'a it's raining so much here in Toon-Town.

Probably not going to for a little bit yet because I'm heading down to D.C. tomorrow to protest the visit of the El Salvadorian president. So, if I get disappeared, someone out there needs to know they usually fly you to Louisiana before they put you in that crazy death camp in El Salvador.

So... you know.... If I'm not posting here tomorrow, it's because they didn't like my sign, I guess.

AND I don't wanna miss my mini-sunshine break at a down south beach either.... Anyhow, I really want to see Solo, Barco & Termo! but me-n-the Curve are taking some time off. If I make it back on a home week, you'll be able to find me out in the Rail Kings section with a hot sausage (or two) in my hand.

Until I return alive.....

At the very least you'll get put on some list for future disappearance. Good luck and be safe.

Will do.

I'm a sophomoric retired state trooper, so I know what you can and cannot do. The trouble I'm having is that it's getting dangerous to have an opinion.

And that severely harshes my enjoyment of TW's writing.

Glad to have a friend around here....

We need to grow this site.

I'm'a go on over to the other site, which I also enjoy, and make a few mentions and stuff.

While that's true, I think the dumb move is living in fear as a voluntary mute. I'd rather die than give up my freedom. Although, anyone who comes to take it away better have good insurance.

When I was a journalist, way back when personal computers were happening... PCs were just glorified word processors then... there was this program where you could get your dot matrix printer to print off a banner on the old school paper with the holes down either side....

Over my desk at WOKW 102.9 (We're more than just OK... We're OK 102.9!) I had two banners printed. The first said: "The Truth will give you bullet proof armor..." And the second read: "...And the need to wear it."

Pirates / Washington

Top of 6th: Pirate Baseball: It's fundaMENTAL!!!!

Seems to be some weird baseball happening tonight.

Cutch appears to have provided these black and yella ropes everyone is wearing tonight and they seem to be vibing off it at bat. Way to go, Pops! Marshall the troops.

Two or three pick off moves from Skenes to Valdez have wound up sailing down the right field line. Throws over didn't look bad, but they were not caught.

D.C. (not Dylan Crewes) outfielders were throwing over the cutoff man to home all the time and their catcher then threw out two Pirate baserunners via TOOTBLAN. Seems to da Wabbit that our base-runners were watching for cut-off or throw home and the throws home seemed to be designed to set up a throw to the bases? Somebody check me if I'm wrong.

Bucs bullpen has been simmering lately... and Justin Lawrence has been a good part of it. Could he be the new 7th inning guy? See who they bring on in the 8th...

Cutch appears to be not clueless in the outfield. Nice to see him out there. He made a nice diving catch and from his knees, he looked over to Cruz and showed him his Rawlings gold- glove... Nice. That Cutch... dude is a keeper.

Endy is out with a hult fingol and Bart is out with a bad back. Having catchers is good. Tank looks ok back there.

Ferguson for the 8th..... one o' the lefties....

8th inning Alex Call grounds out, but he has... and I say this with total dudeness... really pretty blue eyes.

Ferguson gives up a run but I think looks very good doing it.

Enmanual Valdez... two hits and two walks tonight.... If he could telepathically know when Skenes is throwing over.... Let him play.

Key Hayes... wham... 2 run single... 106 mph off the bat... these guys'll be wearing those ropes the rest of the season.... and... shoot... up 8-3, Key steals second. Dang. Let's gooooooo!

We Are Pham-A-Lee!... rbi single

Fraz singles....

idk if it's the necklaces or the hit collector or what...

jesus... ikf with an rbi single....

Bucs are 8 for 8 with risp tonight

Santana for the 9th.

11 pitches... done...

and mom likes that.

See yinz all tomorrow!

I loved the recap. Despite watching the game, I missed the necklaces.

You must be a "new" guy! Ha. I wanna say back in the day, when the Bucs were having post season when Cutch was in his prime, I think they wore them...

Also, WAAAY back, there used to be this "asylum" message board... I can't even remember who ran the site at the time (You would probably know)... One of us would always be online calling the game via text almost pitch by pitch for those who couldn't watch around the web....

Crazy. There were a lot of nice people... and it had a lot to do with the online Pirates' culture that became, I think, the very currency of all the Pirates' coverage that you see has developed today and that media outlets want to trade in.

I loved that community, and still do today. And community, no matter what the subject is, is what keeps us coming back. We get to know each other in a cold world and we can share something dumb like a baseball game, but we appreciate one another....

...And dude, him looking over at Cruz and pointing to his Rawlings gold glove... THAT is the kind of thing Willie Stargell would have done with a young player. Call him out. Tell him what it is... Leave a legacy. it almost doesn't matter what happens next.

The necklaces are Willie's "Gold Stars" that they'd put on their hats in the day.

Good signs. Not to get too fired up. But exactly the right signs.

I don't watch the games with sound, and don't watch the post game. I didn't notice the necklace until you mentioned it, but I also didn't really know that McCutchen didn't wear a necklace like that. Looks like the old Phiten titanium necklaces. I used to wear one for neck and shoulder pain.

Today, I prefer marijuana for that neck pain. It also helps when you know more information about that asylum community and how it operates than any human being or government agency should know.

That's also why I don't care to trade in that market like weaker minded media members.

I am not an industry plant who needs the appearance of a community to give my work validity.

Watching the game,

Postgame with Cutch was damn nice...

Hannah asked about him pointing to his gold glove and he said, "I was only showing one person, and that's Oneal Cruz. Because if he wants one, he just needs to watch me."

Damn.

That is so cool.

Bonk wants a list... man those lists mean money, don't they?

I have to admit the old prospect guides, man... they were wonderful...

DUDE!!!

What about a HOT list of prospects, dynamic and changing all the time, where you set up your tiered lists and then subscribers get to somehow order the tiers with votes and stuff....

Have to figure out a way to make it so that you're not like stuffing ballot boxes, tho....

That would be fun and the conversations might be even more informative....
